For two summers back in 2003 and 2004 I worked at Timberlake Ranch Camps as a cabin leader. For the last couple of summers I have had the privilege of returning as the “Camp Pastor” for a week. Now I am involved in a little different role than ever before. Here is the Promo Video they asked me to create for them as they travel to churches all over Nebraska, Kansas, & Oklahoma. Enjoy!

There is a new Acts 29 Church Plant coming to Lincoln. I am super excited to have someone affiliated with Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church in Seattle coming into Lincoln, but I am also super pumped at the opportunity to submit some graphics for their new Logo. Here is my final design.

I had the incredible responsibility and privilege of speaking at UNLcru the weekly meeting of Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where I am an intern with Crusade. The message is centered around the idea that obedience should overflow from our hearts as they are gripped by the message of Jesus Christ. The bulk of the message is from Matthew 25:14-30 “The Parable of the Talents.” I hope you enjoy it and that it is encouraging!

Denver Christmas Conference 2009 – Kingdom Come

This is a quick recap video of the 2009 Denver Christmas Conference sponsored by the Great Plains Region of Campus Crusade for Christ.

More than 1200 students from more than 6 states including Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska attended this years conference.

Tears of Joy

It has been a very hard time in my life the past couple of months. Since I have been back on campus at UNL this year things have simply been hard. There have been times of happiness and joy, but there has been a constant return to a season of difficulty and hardship. I know and believe that God is sovereign over all things, because recently (the last two days) when I have felt at my worst God has given me words of encouragement from unlikely sources.

On Tuesday afternoon, God called me away from campus and to seek him. After 4 cups of coffee, 3 cups of water, 5 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, and hash browns at IHOP for $5.99 (this was one source of joy) and three hours I read the entirety of the book of Job. For 37 chapters I read about Jobs pleas before the Lord and then for 4 chapters I read the Lords response. At the time it was not encouraging at all. I was wrestling with God. Here Job, a faithful servant of the Lord, cries out in his agony and despair while listening to the foolish rebuke and “comfort” from his friends and then God yells at him!

However, Job’s response has been on my heart like crazy the past two days. He says,

“I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’
Surely, I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.

You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you and you shall answer me.’
My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

These bold phrases have been ringing in my heart and in my ears for two days now. I don’t even know how to repent sometimes and honestly when I first read this I didn’t want to say the things Job did. My suffering pales in comparison to Job’s yet, I know that God is listening, that he is present, and that he cares even in the silence. The Lord has given me two sources of encouragement this morning that I want to share with you all.

My friend Anne Garrison posted a poem on her blog, to the doubting, depressed or weary I would recommend reading it.

AND

An encouragement just wouldn’t be complete without a little John Piper. I had received this blog in an email almost a month ago, but had not read it until this morning (like that wasn’t the Lord’s sovereignty at work!). The last section was particularly encouraging!

This is a recap video I made for the UNLcru Fall Getaway Retreat. It was held at Camp Rivercrest in Fremont, NE. There were 48 students there who got a break from the craziness of college life and got to connect with the Lord personally and through the speaking of Lee Watkins. Lee is on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ on the St. Louis Metro Team.
